For the 3rd consecutive year the Colorado State University Extension Office in San Miguel and West Montrose Counties is excited to offer APPLE TREE GRAFTING AND PRUNING WORKSHOPS! The instructors are possibly the most knowledgeable and passionate fruit enthusiasts in our region, Jude and Addie Schuenemeyer. They are co-founders of the Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project (MORP). Grafting classes will be held on Friday, February 24 from 6-9pm at the Placerville Schoolhouse and on Saturday, February 25 from 3:30 – 6:30 pm at the Redvale Community Center. The Pruning workshop will be held at a local orchard(s) on Saturday, February 25 from 9am to 2pm.

Fall Chili Dinner Apple Core Project Fundraiser

Our first annual fall fundraiser for the Apple Core Project will be held at the Livery in Norwood, CO. Enjoy an evening of poetry, music, apple tasting along with local grass-fed beef & Anazazi bean chili, local Blue Grouse bread, heirloom apple dessert and local Snow Capped Hard Cider! Heritage Harvest Festival

October 8, 2016 in the Naturita park starting @ 11am

2016 Pruning & Grafting Class

February 26, 27, 28, 2016

 

This Winter's Pruning & Grafting Class (organized by CSU Extension Office) with Jude & Addy Schuenemeyer from Montezuma County's Orchard Resortation Project (MORP) will help you learn to graft and prune for local fruit tree varieties. Grafting will be held at Nucla Fire Station on February 26th from 6-9pm or Placerville School House on February 27th from 6-9pm. 4th Annual Colorado Hard Cider Festival!

October 24 @ 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm

 

Come on out to the 4th Annual Colorado Hard Cider Festival at Delicious Orchards on October 24 from 12pm-7pm. There will be kids activities including, apple pressing, face painting, gourd painting, pumpkin carving, swings and more, as well as live music! Check out the Solar Brothers from 11-1, Gregg Daigle Band from 1:30-3:30 and Coral Creek from 4-7, and sample ciders from these fine craft cider makers all hailing from the Rocky Mountain Region: Big B’sC, Squared Ciders, Colorado Cider Company, Snow Capped Cider, Stem Cidery, Wild Cider
